Karl Gostner

Karl Gostner is the Head of Lead SA and a Certified Integral Coach. He coaches mid-career professionals in a number of different sectors as well as mentors a variety of students who participate in Primedia’s Scholarship and Bursary programmes. He has held various leadership roles within media which include, but not limited to roles in research and strategy. Karl’s roles in media have added ongoing leadership in organizational transformation to deliver revenue growth and innovation.

Gamuchirai Mutezo is the Chief Operations Officer at SEA Africa, a research firm that aims to ‘Link Business to African Markets’. As COO her responsibilities include overseeing overall operations within the company, exploring and understanding business ventures across the African continent as well as ensuring that their research outcomes promote intra-continental trade. Gamuchirai has always had an avid interest in African cities as engines for growth and development, particularly for small and medium enterprises.

Mr Mike Ntsasa is a Group Executive and a Managing Board Member at Independent Media SA, a Director and Board Member at Insights Publishing and the Founder of The Young Independents. Over a decade of experience in media, he has had the opportunity to work at SA’s most reputable and influential media houses such as Media24, Mail and Guardian and currently Independent Media. During his tenure at these institutions Mike has successfully led teams and his track records speaks volumes of his leadership abilities.

Palesa Makanda

Palesa Makanda is the CEO and founder of EnziAfrica. EnziAfrica is a black women owned organisation that is built on the philosophy that Africa holds great opportunity and has the potential to thrive even further if Africa solutions are applied to build the continent, particularly through sustainable entrepreneurship. Palesa has extensive experience developing SMEs which includes both funding entrepreneurs as well as providing non-financial support in collaboration with multinational companies. Palesa holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Management as well as a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Information Systems.

Thembile Ndlovu

Thembile Ndlovu is a strong ambassador of lifelong learning, empowerment and mentorship. Thembile is currently the 4Afrika YALI Regional Leadership Center Program Manager at Microsoft. In this role, Thembile provides young Africans with internship opportunities across Africa. She is the co-founder of ACT (Authentic Chicks Talk), which is an NGO that empowers young girls, to speak up and become active citizens in their lives and communities. She is also part of the curatorship of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers (Tshwane Hub).

Seymone Moodley

Seymone Moodley, founder and CEO of Malteez Consulting a digital marketing social enterprise. Seymone has worked for years as a South African journalist at notable news organisations and publications such as, the British Broadcast Corporation, CNBC Africa, Forbes Africa and Forbes Woman Africa magazine. She has also worked at one of South Africa's largest digital marketing agencies for big South African brands such as the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Nestlé’s Aero, Purina ONE and Husky brands. She helped develop, maintain, grow and achieve successful results for each brand.

Dianne Mc Alpine

Dianne McAlpine works for Primedia and is an honours graduate with over 8 years of work experience in different fields within both the International NGO and Corporate Social Investment environments. Dianne’s work experience comes extensively from within the environmental NGO field. This experience includes local group (volunteer) team development and management, campaign development, online and offline communications including writing and social media, as well as strategy development, project management, event coordination, mobilization and public outreach.

Francisca Nkhabu

Malilomo Francisca Nkhabu is a dynamic young woman who is passionate about the development of the African continent and creating better livelihoods for its communities. She is currently studying towards her MA in Environment and Society at the University of Pretoria. She earned her undergraduate degree and honors degree at Monash South Africa.

She also worked as a consultant at the United Nations Environmental Environment. Her areas of interest are sustainable development, climate change, environmental conservation and development of communities through projects

Dainelle Rowe

Danielle Rowe is a high school history teacher teaching at Northriding High School. She completed a Post Graduate Teachers Diploma in History, Geography and life Orientation at the University of Cape Town in 2013. Danielle is very passionate about teaching and enjoys working with students to not only broaden their knowledge but also their ways of approaching issues and historical debates by making them aware of current issues and how history has shaped the world they live in.

Andrew Brough

Dr. Andrew Brough specialises in “Equipping for Excellence” through Brough Leadership Institute. He is a lecturer, facilitator, broadcaster, global speakers federation member and a Chartered Marketer. Andrew has over 25 years’ of experience in writing, producing and presenting which includes conducting more than 3500 leadership and marketing presentations. His Ph.D. research examined the relationship between responsible leadership, stakeholder value creation and corporate reputation.

Nyiko Mthembi

Nyiko Mthembi is working in marketing at Penguin Random House SA. Nyiko holds a Bachelors of Social Sciences degree majoring in Communication and Media Studies obtained at Monash South Africa. She has been involved in numerous volunteer programmes and is passionate about community development. Under her leadership as president of AIESEC at Monash South Africa in 2012/2013, AIESEC was awarded "entity of the year" among all tertiary institutions in South Africa. Nyiko is committed to creating greater access to education and thereby empowering young people in South Africa.

Josephine Koketso Mbewe is the co-founder of Youth Leadership Investment Network (Pty) Ltd and a 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow.

The Youth Leadership Investment Network (Pty) Ltd is driven by Josephine’s desire to serve the youth positively. The venture is focused on youth mentorship, empowerment and soft skills development.

Josephine has always been a leader; in her school career she was involved in debating, writing and public speaking.

Thabang Mabuza

Thabang Mabuza is the founder of the Lion’s Den and a 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. The Lions’ Den provides support to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to engage in initiatives and contribute to social transformation. The project provides a conducive platform for young active citizens between the ages of 18-35, who are leading social impact projects within communities, to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from experts and seasoned entrepreneurs.

Sithembile Ndlovu is a qualified Child and Youth Care Practitioner and a young Social Entrepreneur from Durban, South Africa. She is a co-founder of Sithuthukile Pre School and Eliny’ithuba NPO and a 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. Sithembile aims to educate, advocate, empower and improve the lives of children and youth in underprivileged circumstances through her passion for social science.

Innocentia Mthembu

Innocentia Mthembu is the founder of Show Time Film Club, a 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow and 2017 Laureate Global Fellow based in Johannesburg.  Show Time Film Club is an exciting videography programme aimed at school learners that strives to positively affect the next generation through the medium of filmmaking. Show Time Film Club’s core aim is to provide relevant, future-focused skills within a caring, fun environment based on film education. The programme’s motto is "Discover your potential".

Lwandi Sokhanyile

Lwandi Victory Sokhanyile is the co-founder of the L5 Global Movement, a 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow and founder of Kukura International Group. The L5 Global Movement works in empowering the youth in this informal settlement by providing basic needs for vulnerable youth and also supporting them through values programmes. L5 also run programmes in the community to prevent drug abuse and assist youth in finding employment.

Sharon Rapetswa

Sharon Rapetswa is a leader and a self-starter. She is also a businesswoman, an education enthusiast, change maker, founder of New Dawn Foundation and 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. New Dawn Foundation seeks to promote literacy and learning in the Limpopo Province with programmes including a Spelling Bee and a Read-a-Thon. The aim of the organisation is to assist and enable primary school children to read by the 7th grade.

Sophie Kanza

Sophie Kanza is the co-founder of Sophie A Kanza Foundation, a passionate pan African, change maker, peace activist, leader and 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. Her current work includes Afrophobia awareness, youth volunteerism and sanitary health. Sophie hopes to take #Singabantu - We are human a film about Afrophobia awareness on a continental tour and open an office and youth hub in her hometown Kinshasa. She lives by her organizations motto "Creating a culture of good deeds".

Lebo Mashigo

Lebo Mashigo is the founder of NuBreed Music Institute and 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. NuBreed is an organisation that provides lessons to young people between the ages of 12-21 in KwaNdebele. The programme is aimed at young people from the area and aims to instil and develop music and art skills. Nubreed’s goal is to train young people who will become professional musicians that can contribute to the industry as producers, composers, and music directors.

Palesa Tefu

Palesa Tefu is the founder of The Survival Kit (SKIT) and 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. SKIT is a project aimed at empowering school learners. It is a practical product comprises of a goal board, a monthly planner, a diary, study guides and affirmations. She now gives motivational talks at schools and helps learners form study groups as well as teaching them how to make the most out of educational television programmes.

Winnie Makhwanya

Winnie Makhwanya is the Founder of the Keagile Wellness Development Centre (KWDC) and 2016 MSA LEAD Fellow. KWDC predominantly focus on the psychological well-being and empowerment of individuals and communities, as well as social and youth development.  Winnie makes psychological services accessible to the diverse South African population and provides psychological and preventative interventions that focus on supporting and promoting the enhancement of well-being in community contexts for individuals, families, groups and communities.
